The Foundation for Cancer Care in Tanzania (FCCT), established in 2013, traces its beginnings to the remarkable work of Dr. Helmut Diefenthal and EAMAF, which provided for the development of radiology training and services at KCMC, the zonal referral hospital for the Northern Healthcare Zone of Tanzania. With those services, cancers were being identified by imaging, but there was no treatment available other than surgery. FCCT evolved out of EAMAF to address this need for cancer care in that part of Tanzania and embraced a mission to enhance cancer care to improve the lives of the citizens of Tanzania through education, programs for prevention and screening, and services providing treatment and palliative care.
